Photography at Gaiety Hollow We welcome individuals to take photographs at Gaiety Hollow. For personal, non-commercial photography, no fee and no contract are required. Fees and an agreement are required for commercial photographers, photography groups, classes and individuals wishing to schedule special time in the gardens (see information below).
1. Basic Guidelines for All Photographers • Access to the property is via established pathways and the lawn areas only. • Entrances, exits and the alley may not be blocked or obstructed. • There is to be NO stepping into the flowerbeds or mulched areas. • NO photographic equipment, for example, tripods or light stands, may be placed within the flowerbeds or mulched areas. • Equipment may be used on the lawns or pathways, as long as it is used carefully and does not damage the grounds or plants. • NO props, furniture, luggage or changing of clothes are permitted on the grounds. If wardrobe changes are needed, the house may be rented for an additional fee of $50.00 per hour, and this must be booked in advance. • NO tripods are allowed during events open to the general public. • NO drone photography is permitted. • NO glitter is to be used, for example, for prom or graduation photos. • Any sharing of photographs, whether via social media or showing, requires appropriate location credit. The credit text to be used is: Gaiety Hollow, Salem, Oregon. • The Lord & Schryver Conservancy reserves the right to restrict access to certain areas, or revoke permission to photograph if conditions are not met.
2. For Commercial Photographers, Photography Groups, Special Photo Sessions, and Classes Visits must be scheduled in advance and may not take place during other scheduled events, unless the hosts of the event have specifically engaged the commercial photographer. PROFESSIONAL Fees: $50 per hour for admittance during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm). $70 for other hours. A 50% deposit is required upon signing the agreement (see below for link to form). GROUPS, CLASSES, PHOTO SESSIONS: Recommended donation of $5.00 per person for admittance during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm). $20 surcharge for non-business hours.
Individual or small group portraits are to be limited to 5 persons in the group. If this is performed by a commercial photographer, the requirements for commercial photographers apply. If this photography is performed by non-commercial photographers, the requirements for photography groups and classes apply.
